Built on the site of the former Fisher Blacksmith Shop, Hotel Central opened on 31st August 1908. The adjoining cottage was previously the Fisher’s residence. This delightful establishment exudes old-world charm that endures to this day. (click here for more history)

Riverton, in the Heart of the Gilbert Valley is situated 91 kms north of Adelaide on the Barrier Highway between Tarlee and Burra. For many years Riverton was a railway junction; but today is better known for its 12,500 hectares under cultivation growing various cereals, small seed crops of lucerne, beans, chickpeas and canola, sheep, dairy and beef cattle, poultry, pigs and a return to viticulture with several vineyards now established whilst other farmers have diversified into olive growing and processing. Hotel Central was built by the Lion Brewing and Malting Company 116 years ago and opened on the 31st of August 1908. Hotel Central is a double story charming bluestone building which has lots of character, with the old-style veranda, railings, woodwork, led glass windows. still in place. Its interior was lovingly restored in 2020 and still has the original grand wooden staircase and old brick work through out.(click here for more history)
